PLAST TORONTO RESPONSE TO COVID-19

Latest Updates

November 16, 2022

Masking

In keeping with the recent announcement from Toronto Public Health and Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, strongly recommending the wearing of a well-fitted mask in indoor public settings, Plast Toronto encourages (though it is not mandatory) the wearing of masks during Plast Activities – particularly during indoor activities – in order to help keep children and others safe from an increase in respiratory viruses among children, including RSV, Influenza and COVID-19.

As previously, wearing of masks will continue to be required in the following circumstances:

  • For 10 days after the start of symptoms OR a positive COVID-19 test (whichever came first)
  • OR for 10 days after last close contact with a person who has symptoms or a positive COVID-19 test

Health Screening

We will not be conducting active screenings or using google forms as we did last year. However, we ask that all Plast program participants continue to do a self-assessment before coming to Plast activities using the Toronto Public Health screening form (click on link).

If you have any symptoms or have a positive Covid test, we ask that you please stay home and follow the instructions described on the form.

Other Safety Measures

Effective August 1, 2022, Plast Toronto ended its mandatory vaccine policy for participation in Plast activities. This means that as of August 1st, any unvaccinated members and volunteers were able to return to in-person activities, including youth camps (yunatsvo).

As of March 22, 2022, Plast Toronto lifted of all cohorting, physical distancing, and capacity requirements. We will continue the use of HEPA filters at the Huculak Centre and encourage increased ventilation, like opening windows.

Because our programs can include close contact in indoor settings, we are committed to providing the safest environment we can to protect each other. We recognize that adapting to new measures may take time and that not everyone will have the same level of comfort with the measures in place.

We thank you for your ongoing cooperation and support. We will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation and, following our guiding principles, shape our responses and policies accordingly.
